Dortmund Zoo is a popular destination in Dortmund, Germany. It was opened in 1953 and houses a diverse collection of animals from all over the world.

 

The zoo covers an area of around 28 hectares and offers visitors the opportunity to discover over 1,400 animals from around 220 species. Highlights include elephants, giraffes, lions, tigers, monkeys and many more fascinating animals.

Dortmund Zoo attaches great importance to species conservation and works closely with various international species conservation programmes. Targeted breeding programmes preserve endangered species and support populations.
